Ward and Bosevski win at Wollongong
The latest round of the Touchdown Helicopters junior open series was the Wollongong Junior which was held on Sunday. The field was the best so far with fifty juniors teeing it up in the 18 hole event and four in the nine hole event, with visitors coming from the Central Coast, ACT, Kandos and there were two visitors from Spain. Thw Juniors on the Move Christmas party was also held on the day and there was also a good turnout for the nine hole two person ambrose event.
There was some good scoring in the windy conditions, with Kiama's Eddie Ward continuing his hot streak of form to win the boy's overall title with a two over par 72 to win from clubmate Wil Daibarra who finished with a 74. Selena Bosevski made it a third title for the year with an eight over 79 to win by four. Lara Thomsen from Wollongong had the next best scratch score with an 83, however claimed the girls overall nett. The boy's overall nett was won by Wollongong's Josh Hayes. After going out in even par for the front nine Josh faded slightly on the back nine to finish with an 80 for a nett score of 66.
The stableford event saw some hot scoring with the boy's stableford taken out by Thomas Eagleton from The Vale who returned the best score of the day with a phenomenal 48 points. the girls stableford winner was Manly's Heather Garrett with 39 points.
The age groups were also hotly contested with the boy's 15 years and over scratch won by Wil Daibarra with 74 and Blake Murray from Penrith winning the nett with a 70. In the boy's 14 and under the Links Shell Cove's Brad Wills 77 won the scratch and Jericho Cirera (Castle Hill) the nett winner with 68 nett.
The nine hole event winner was Riley Beehag who put together some good golf returning a score of 59.
