Father comes out on top in family battle

In division one of the Illawarra Pennant it was the away teams who came out on top. Kiama defeated Port Kembla 3-2. Wil Daibarra was a comprehensive 9/8 winner in his match, Kiama’s other winners were James Malin and Beau Fraser. The number one match saw father Port Kembla’s Jason Ward up against son Eddie. It was Jason who came out on top with a 2/1 victory. Port Kembla’s other winner Mark Crossingham won 1 up over Adam Stojanovic. The other match saw Links Shell Cove(1) 5-0 winners over The Grange. Danny Nesbitt won his match 5/4, Colin Mitchell won 3/2 with the other three matches decided on the 18th hole.

In the division two match between Shoalhaven Heads and Wollongong, Shoalhaven Heads Lachlan Maddinson was a big winner with his 9/7 win getting Shoalhaven Heads off to the perfect start. Ian Asbury was the other winner for Shoalhaven Heads winning his match 2 up against Bryan Munkman. Justin Craig and Garry Murphy were Wollongongs winners both winning 2/1. With the match standing at 2 matches each it would come down to the number one match between Mark Johnston (Shoalhaven Heads) and Stephen Webb (Wollongong). The deadlock couldn’t be broken with Johnston and Webb squaring their match to see the teams share the points. The other match saw the Links Shell Cove 5-0 winners against The Vale. Nathan Whiteman’s 3/2 win the biggest with all other matches going to the 17th or 18th.   

Division one of B pennant saw Links Shell Cove thump last year’s champions in the B pennant Kiama 5-0. Wollongong and The Vale both won their matches and the three teams currently share top spot. Division two had a bye weekend. 

Port Kembla made it two from two in division one of the C pennant with a 4-1 win over Gerringong. The Grange, who had the bye in round one defeated Wollongong 5-0 to stay in touch. Division two winners were The Vale 3.5-1.5 against Kiama and Links Shell Cove by the same margin against St George’s Basin.

Jamberoo (1) and Moss Vale are both undefeated after two rounds in division two of White Horse Cup. Jamberoo (1) defeated Bowral (1) 5 – 1 and Moss Vale defeated Shoalhaven Heads (1) 4 – 2. The other match between Sussex Inlet (1) and Links Shell Cove (1) saw them split the points with the 3-3- result. Links Shell Cove (2) lead division four after a 3-3 result their match against Bowral (2). The other match saw Sussex Inlet (2) defeat Shoalhaven Heads (2) 5-1. Division’s one and three both had a bye.

Wollongong won their match 4-2 against The Vale to remain undefeated after two rounds of the Encourage Shield. St George’s Basin-Vincentia were too good for Kiama in the other match winning 5 matches to 1.
